Deaf Hill and Kelloe

                Primary Federation

We have had another fabulous year at Deaf Hill and Kelloe Achieve
Primary Schools – our fi rst full year as part of AdAstra
Academy Trust! We have enjoyed the new experiences and We have been working hard this year to improve
opportunities that being part of the trust has facilitated. attendance at both schools, and we are delighted that in
We also hope that we have shared a little of the magic that the fi rst two terms of this year Kelloe Primary had the best
we create at Deaf Hill and Kelloe. attendance in the Trust! We are still working hard at Deaf
Hill but are hopeful that next year both our schools will
Support have outstanding attendance. We have had some amazing
sports results this year at both schools, however the
At both schools we pride ourselves in the support we provide standout was our netball team at Deaf Hill not only winning
to everyone in both school communities. Both schools are the small schools’ competition but then winning the large
proud of the warmth and generosity we try to foster in our schools’ competition as well to qualify for the county fi nals
pupils and staff and passionately believe that our schools – a previously unheard of achievement!
are amazing places to learn and work. We don’t always get
everything right but appreciate the support we get from
parents and carers to enable the schools to support pupils to
be the best they possibly can. We have continued to receive
exceptional support from the Trust enabling us to make
signifi cant improvements in many areas of the curriculum. Staff
from Deaf Hill and Kelloe have also supported other schools in
the trust – sharing expertise, knowledge and understanding.

                                                            Success
Our Maths and English Cafés have continued to be a
real success and we have loved working with hundreds
of parents and carers in school, sharing strategies and
fun ways to support children with maths and English.
Togetherness Attendance at the cafes has been phenomenal and we
would like to thank all the attendees for making the
Staff and pupils have loved the togetherness that is a key part sessions such a success! The children at both schools have
of the trust. We have attended pupil Art, Science and PE events worked so hard this year and we are so excited to fi nd out
and our pupils have loved meeting pupils from other trust how our children have achieved in their Year 6 SATs tests -
schools. We have a pupil from each school on the Trust Pupil we have very high hopes!
Leadership Team and they have been working hard to increase
opportunities for children to collaborate and grow together.
Staff have also benefi tted from numerous development
opportunities and subject leadership hubs. Deaf Hill and Kelloe
continue to share experiences and fun – last year both schools
went on amazing residential visit to Paris and soon we will be
going to London for a three-day visit – we can’t wait!

               Respect
Both schools are very aware of the need to respect each
other in school but also to respect others – especially those
people in our own community. We have worked hard this
year to engage with the local community becoming involved
with many amazing projects. At Kelloe we loved going to Mr Newton
St Helen’s to celebrate Christmas and Easter. At Deaf Hill
we have been part of the Telling the Bees project which is
a community initiative that has involved gardening, cooking
and beekeeping! Hopefully, we will be starting this project
soon at Kelloe and sharing our honey with everyone!
