Sunnyside Academy is formally consulting on a proposal to reduce the Published Admission Number (PAN) for the 2024/25 academic year to 30 places from the current 50 places in the mainstream setting. The proposed admissions policy reflecting this consultation can be found below. There are no other changes being consulted upon at this time.
We are feeling the impact of a decline in pupils being admitted to the school in recent years and it is anticipated that this will be a continuing trend. This is an issue within the Coulby Newham community, but also the national picture is showing an overall decline in pupil numbers.
So that we are able to manage our resources effectively in order to ensure the educational experience for the children who attend Sunnyside Academy is of the highest quality, we feel reducing the PAN for the 2024/25 academic year will help us to achieve this. We do not feel that this change will negatively impact anyone who wishes to send their child(ren) to Sunnyside Academy as we believe that a reduced PAN of 30 will be adequate to meet the required need.
The consultation will run from Thursday 15th December 2022 until Thursday 26th January 2023.
