Andy Brown OBE Chief Executive Officer / Trustee

Recently headteacher, Chair of the DfE Primary Headteacher’s Reference Group, DfE Advisor and National Leader of Education.

Richenda Broad Chair of Trustees

Retired Director of Children’s Services and recently worked with NHS England Northern Region to improve the emotional and mental health of children and young people.

Mark Tilling Vice Chair of Trustees

Current Secondary Headteacher of an extremely large school in Hartlepool and experienced primary school governor.

David New Trustee

Dave is a CIPFA qualified accountant and was Senior Finance Manager in Stockton responsible for finance within Children’s, Adults and Community Services. Dave was also the Finance Lead on Stockton’s Schools’ Forum.

Joanne Dobson Trustee

Joanne has executive board experience across several organisations including commissioning and providers of NHS services. Her current role involves oversight of performance and assurance across the NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB)

Emma Robins Trustee

Emma is an experienced Primary Headteacher of two schools in Sunderland with the National Professional Qualification in Executive Leadership. In addition to education, her executive board experience also includes governance in the charity sector.

Craig Malarkey Trustee

Craig is an experienced corporate and commercial lawyer in matters of governance and statutory compliance.

Chris Simmons Member

Previously served as Trustee and most recently, Chair of Trustees at Ad Astra Academy Trust and was also a former teacher and school governor within Hartlepool. Also served as a Hartlepool councillor for nine years including time as Chair of the Children’s Services committee. A key figure in Hartlepool Youth Choir and was also vice-chair of the British Federation of Young Choirs, and President and then vice-president of the European Federation of Choirs for six years.

Laura Ashurst Member

National Advocate for Cancer Research UK and Breast Cancer Care; holds a Diploma in Management Studies.

Greg Baldwin Member

Chartered Management Accountant and currently Commercial Finance Director of the Catalyst Technologies Business of Johnson Matthey PLC.

Kate Flounders Member

Our Patrons have no governance role within the Trust, but they are advocates for our work and a source of guidance when needed for Trustees and the central team.

Our Resources Committee oversee Finance, HR, Audit and Risk and Estates.
